Welcome to the IMC Community (Sangha)
In modern Western terms, Sangha refers to the community of practitioners on the Buddhist path. We are an open community that is welcoming to anyone who is interested in the teachings and practice we offer.
Membership. Although we have no formal membership, anyone who would like to be a member of our community is a member. There are many ways of participating in our community. Each person is encouraged to find a way that works best for him or herself.
Connect
- Subscribe to the IMC News & Upcoming Events Email and receive weekly emails about events and other announcements.
- Newsletter Sign up on the mailing list to receive our quarterly newsletter (also available online and through our email list above).
- Facebook: ‘Like’ Insight Meditation Center on Facebook
- IMC Community Site is an online forum where sangha members from the local and worldwide community can connect about practice.
Volunteer
All the work that keeps IMC running smoothly is done by volunteers. Volunteering is an opportunity to participate, to meet other sangha members and fosters a sense of community. To learn more, visit our Volunteer page.
Dharma Friends
Dharma Friends encourages spiritually-based friendships and a sense of community in our sangha. All sangha members are welcome to our events and may bring friends. We organize various activities such as hikes, music-jams, poetry readings, back-packing trips, and movie nights.
Sunday Vegetarian Potlucks
Join us for a potluck brunch at 11am on the last Sunday of each month, following the regular Sunday morning program. Everyone is welcome to this informal gathering of sangha friends. Contact Di or Dave Tatro (650) 595-4260.
Sangha Yellow Pages
If you have a service or product you would like to promote to others in the sangha, you may create a listing for our Sangha Yellow Pages binder found on the IMC literature table. To be included, pick up an instruction form found inside the binder. Create a one-page piece describing your business and insert it in the appropriate section. If you have questions, contact Wendy Alger.
