Informal Gatherings

Informal Gatherings

Participating in the informal gatherings after the Sunday or Wednesday programs is an excellent way to meet other community members. Becoming acquainted with other people interested in meditation practice is a good way to support and develop one’s own practice.

Vegetarian Potluck

Join us for a vegetarian potluck brunch at 11 am on the last Sunday of each month, following the regular Sunday morning program. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share with 10 people. Everyone is welcome to this informal gathering of sangha friends, whether you brought a dish to share or not.

Tea

Join us for an informal tea with light refreshments on the second Sunday of each month, following the regular Sunday morning program. Everyone is welcome to this opportunity to meet new friends and connect with old friends.

Center Cleaning and Gardening

Join us on the first and third Sundays of each month for a brief cleaning of the center and gardening. Participating in these brief (20 min) sessions caring for our practice space is an opportunity to express appreciation for the center and practice generosity, not to mention meeting other like-minded individuals. It’s impressive how much work can get done in a short amount of time when there are a lot of individuals sharing the work! These cleaning and gardening sessions are part of the way IMC operates as an all-volunteer, all-donation organization.

Brown Bag Lunch

Join us for a Brown Bag Lunch Wednesday afternoons 12:15 – 1:00 after the Wednesday half-day program. Wednesday afternoon lunches are a wonderful opportunity to talk with other practitioners and informally talk with the teacher.

Volunteering

Volunteering to help with a project or maintain the center is an excellent way to meet other people interested in mindfulness meditation. Please see our volunteer page for more information.

Community Picnic

Once a year, usually in July, IMC has a community picnic in a Redwood City public park. This usually starts at 11:15 following the Sunday morning program at IMC. The park setting is ideal for bringing children.
