Dharma Support

We have a number of offerings available to support practitioners in the broader IMC community, listed here in alphabetical order. More information about most of these resources can be found other pages as well, linked to the offering’s title. Meetings for some recurring groups are also found on the IMC calendar.

All IMC Community and Dharma support offerings are currently via video conferencing or telephone.

Affinity groups include: a Dharma circle for people of Asian background, Dharma en Español, LGBTQIA+ Queer Sangha, Dharma for people in their 20s and 30s, and a Women’s Circle of Mindfulness.

The Buddhism and Twelve-Step Support Group meets the Second Sunday of the month, 7:30 – 9:00 pm. Contact group facilitator Jennifer Lemas:  jennlemas@comcast.net. Please see the IMC calendar for more information and Zoom meeting details.

COVID-19 Spiritual Care Support is available from professionally trained Buddhist and interfaith chaplains, who provide telephone pastoral counseling to those experiencing Covid 19 and those caring for them on a volunteer basis. Contact imc.chaplains@gmail.com.

Individual Practice Discussion Sessions with senior IMC teachers/Dharma Leaders.  The sessions will provide a chance to discuss your sitting and daily life practice, ask questions, and be heard and supported. Please sign up for only one practice discussion per month so that everyone has an opportunity. You can sign up here.

The Karuna Council is comprised of senior IMC members who, as volunteers, provide pastoral Dharma support to individuals in the wider IMC community in times of major life transitions, including times of serious illness or death and dying. Council members are sometimes available to officiate weddings, funerals and memorial services. Contact karunacouncil@insightmeditationcenter.org.

Neighborhood Dharma Discussion Groups meet once a month for six months in someone’s home at the best time for the majority. Participants are asked to commit for the full six months. The next round of neighborhood discussion groups will be announced in the IMC newsletter. For more information, contact Hilary Borison: IMC.VolunteerDirector@gmail.com

Small Group Practice Discussions with IMC Teachers/Dharma Leaders are offered weekly in groups of about six via Zoom. Meetings are offered at different times and with different teachers each week. You can sign up here.
