While mindfulness practice can be highly effective in helping bring calm and clarity to the pressures of daily life, it is also a spiritual path that gradually dissolves the barriers to the full development of our wisdom and compassion.

Navigating the Way: Exploring the Kalama sutta
With Diana Clark, Ying Chen, Kim Allen and David Lorey
Join us in exploring one of the central questions of our practice: how do we know which teachings, practices, and actions to follow? In the Kalama Sutta, one of the most important discourses of the Buddha (AN 3.65), the Buddha offers guidance on this question as well as other teachings related to loving-kindness, the role of views, wise speech, and the four assurances (a version of Pascal’s Wager). 
In this 4-session course, offered by the Sati Center, we will explore the richness of the Kalama Sutta, developing a multifaceted picture of ways to navigate our spiritual path. Sessions will include meditation, teachings, and small-group discussions. 
Dates: July 11, 14, 16, and 18 (Sat, Tues, Thurs, Sat) 
Time: 8:30-10:00 am Pacific 
Note: On the weekdays (Tues, Thurs), the class will be 1 hour (8:30-9:30) followed by an optional guided meditation from 9:30-10:00.  While for the Saturday classes the guided meditation will be integrated into the class.
