Insight World Aid

Message from Gil

In 2010, together with members of the IMC community, I helped start a non-profit called Insight World Aid (IWA) in order to provide medical and humanitarian aid to impoverished communities.

I am still actively involved with IWA which during this time of a COVID-19 lockdown in Uganda  has donated $2,200 to the Uganda Buddhist Centre, led by Abbot Venerable Bhante Buddharakita, a regular teacher at the Insight Meditation Society in Massachusetts. This money allowed the center to acquire food for the center’s 17 residents and neighbors in need, buy a motorcycle to obtain food because travel in private cars is currently banned, and a large refrigerator.

Insight World Aid continues to raise money for both UBC and UBC’s The Peace School in Uganda started and run Bhante Buddharakita. The school provides meals and education for 36 students.

More information about IWA is found at insightworldaid.org.  If you would like to join us in our support of the Uganda Buddhist Center during this challenging time, please go to insightworldaid.org and make a donation via PayPal or by check sent to Insight World Aid, 108 Birch Street, Redwood City, CA 94062.

Donations to support the Uganda Buddhist Center not only supports the center, its monks, nuns, students, and neighbors during this challenging time it also supports the growth of insight meditation in Uganda.

Gratefully,

Gil
