A silent mindfulness retreat with alternating sitting and walking meditation, as well Dharma talks, time for Q & A, and interviews with the teachers. There will be instruction in mindfulness of the breath, body, emotions, thoughts and walking. The retreat is suitable for both beginners and those wanting to review the basics of practice in a retreat setting.  Optional Qi Gong practice will be offered.

Dormitory-style sleeping or camping.  Vegetarian meals.

Carla Brennan is a Vipassana teacher and offers a variety of classes, workshops and retreats in the Santa Cruz area and beyond and has a weekly meditation group in Felton, CA. Carla is also a Spirit Rock Meditation Center visiting teacher.  She leads nature-based retreats in California and Utah. Carla has been practicing meditation for 35 years in the Zen, Vipassana, and Tibetan traditions. Her many teachers include Zen Master Sueng Sahn, Jack Kornfield, and Lama Surya Das. Carla is also a former psychotherapist and has taught Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for over 17 years. See her website or you can listen to her talks on audiodharma.

Ines Freedman has been practicing Buddhist meditation since 1985, with Gil Fronsdal as her primary teacher since 1995. She is a graduate of the Spirit Rock Meditation Center Community Dharma Leader Program and was Managing Director of Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City.  She has experience with long meditation retreats including extended self-retreats, and has a special interest in working with meditation for those with chronic pain. She directs and teaches the Audiodharma Online Meditation Courses, and serves on the IMC Chaplaincy Council. She is a retired chiropractor.  You can listen to her talks on audiodharma.
