Five Hindrances: Anyone practicing mindfulness knows there are forces in the mind that can make it difficult to stay attentive to one’s present moment experience. We will explore these forces both from the similes found in the suttas coupled with the characters from the Wizard of Oz. Rather than reacting to these difficulties as being “bad,” “distractions,” or personal failings, they can become an integral part of the path of practice.
Classes will include guided meditation, dharma talks, and group discussions. These are rich opportunities to ask questions of teachers and to relate with other sangha members. Classes are appropriate for beginners as well as those with more experience who want support or to inspire practice.
Current requirements for attending in person include being fully vaccinated and boosted and wearing an N95 mask.
The program is offered freely with no registration needed. If you’d like to donate to the teacher or to the center, you can visit IMC’s donation page here.
