The stress of division is very obvious in our country and world right now.  Much of this division is a result of deep habits that are conditioned in all of us.  These habits promote an “us vs. them” framework, a key root of division. Shakil Choudhury’s book provides a modern perspective on overcoming this framework. We will also explore Buddhist teachings and practices that support letting go of these divisive habits.

The program will consist of large and small group meetings.  There will be eight weekly small group meetings (with about 8 people) facilitated by IMC Local Dharma Leaders, which will allow an intimate conversation about the material in the book.  Andrea Fella will facilitate three large group meetings that will explore Buddhist teachings that can support us in this work.

As part of the eightfold path, the Buddha encouraged us to refrain from divisiveness and instead, promote unity and concord. By engaging in this work, we can bring our practice into the world to help heal painful divisions.
